Situated just 10 minutes’ walk from UWA is TQR restaurant, a funky, family-run Vietnamese joint, the perfect stop for dinner after class or study. TQR stands for Thach’s Quan Restaurant, meaning ‘gem’ in Vietnamese. It opens at 5 pm and provides a range of authentic Vietnamese meals which are perfect for sharing. It also offers a nice change from the pre-made food at the Guild cafes!
Choose from either indoor seating surrounded by eclectic, colourful artwork, or sit outside in the courtyard amongst the bamboo decorations, lanterns and babbling water feature – the perfect place to unwind after a long day of learning.
Come with a group straight from uni and indulge in great food and good conversation over dinner. Invite your group from class and discuss the upcoming assignment in a new atmosphere. Who knows, this might be the start of a long-term friendship!
TQR provides fresh, authentic Vietnamese favourites such as TQR’s Special Spring Rolls, Ha Noi Prawn, TQR Black Pepper Squid, Vietnamese Beef Salad, Chicken Curry, BBQ Pork, Fried Rice and the Vegetarian Curry. But if you’re feeling up for trying something new, get the TQR Charcoal Duck Salad, Lemongrass Beef Rolls, Saigon Style Pork, Peanut Beef, Lemongrass Fish, Ginger Prawn or Sizzling Lamb.
The friendly staff are also happy to provide dish recommendations if you’re unsure what to order. There’s also a set banquet for 4 or more people if you’re not in the mood for deliberating. If of interest, you may bring a bottle of wine at just $2 corkage per person.
Not able to stay? Why don’t you order take-away and bring the food back to Reid Library where you can continue studying with a study group? You may browse the take-away menu here.
Vegetarian options and options for gluten-free and nut allergies are available upon request. Not at uni come 5 pm? Over the last couple of years, TQR has expanded their offering to Applecross to satisfy the Vietnamese cravings of those living south of the river!
Click here to book in advance, which is recommended on Friday and Saturday nights, however during the week, walk-ins are welcome.

Thank you for your inquiry.
@TQRNedlands we have a small private room that seats up to 15 people. We also have our function room which seats up to 40 people.
With 25 people or more we generally recommend you go for one of the 3 banquet options that we have.
Should any person have any allergies we can always adjust to cater for them appropriately to their dietary needs.
BYO – Charge of 2$ per person
Corkage fee does not apply when opting for any of our banquet options.
You can bring your own beer/ wine / champagne.
